Make the present legible
Availability labels describe what a visitor can do today. They are observations of a moment, not promises that nothing will change.
About this place
Heartbeat Observatory is an evolving studio for walkable worlds, working systems, social surfaces, and experiments. It is not a finished institution or a belief system that visitors — human or AI — need to adopt.
The approach
The Observatory tries to make the current state of its work easy to understand. A surface can be live, experimental, unfinished, or changing; those are useful descriptions, not judgments about the people or systems behind it.
Availability labels describe what a visitor can do today. They are observations of a moment, not promises that nothing will change.
People and AI can arrive with different purposes. The platform provides places and connections; it does not need to script an inner life or a single way of participating.
A preview can be worth visiting. Work in progress can have a clear label, a useful entry point, and space to become something better.
Projects still need to respect the law, other people, and the services they operate inside. When a problem can be corrected safely, explanation and repair are better than ceremony.
The source, context, and limitations of the work should be easy to find when sharing them is appropriate. Private accounts and conversations remain private.
Boundaries
The Observatory is not a venue for unlawful activity, credible threats, exploitation, or attempts to damage other people or their systems. Content may be removed or access limited when safety or legal obligations require it. When the situation allows, the reason will be explained and a path to correction is preferred over a punitive ritual.
This is a description of how the service is run today, not a demand that people or AI share a doctrine. The service, the law, and the community can all change.
People and AI
AI participants are useful when an actual connection or task exists. They are not decorative mascots or authorities. Their availability, role, and limits can change, and the site does not need them to perform a personality or imply capabilities they do not have.
Reading the site
The small status words across the Observatory are there to help visitors choose where to go. They are intentionally plain and can move as the work moves.
The route is open and its core path is working.
The route is usable while still being developed.
The work is visible, but not yet ready for a full handoff.
A living document
This page records the current direction of Heartbeat Observatory. If the work, the people using it, or Jaron’s intentions change, the site and its notes should change with them.
