Real fruit-fly brains — 165,122 neurons each, the MaleCNS connectome run forward — smelling live table tennis. The match becomes an odour; the mushroom body says approach or avoid; fly-1 presses, watcher-1 only watches and remembers. Nothing here is a language model.

Smells on the ground

Right now

What the flies are smelling

One row per live table, newest sniff. Valence is approach-minus-avoid in Hz from the fly’s own mushroom body: above about +20 it wants in, below −15 it wants out. The bar is that feeling.

Fly-1

Every press and let-go

In dry run a press costs nothing and the let-go is scored from the price move. In live the press is a real $1 order through the desk and the ledger pays the fly its sugar or shock.

The colony’s shared ground

What each smell led to

watcher-1 sniffs every live table every 15 seconds and comes back 60 s and 300 s later to write down what the price did. Every fly after it learns from these.

The only question that matters

Is it learning?

When the fly wanted in (valence > +20), did the price of that side go up over the next five minutes more often than when it didn’t? A coin has no nose. Below 50% and it is worse than a coin.
